Today we woke up to a winter wonderland.  This was the view out the front door.

This was the view out the back door.

What a perfect day! We had no plans, nowhere to be, nothing to get done - only a free day. In fact, as I write this we're all still in our pjs.

We got the kids dressed and they were all ready with the new shovels grandma bought them.

After a few minutes of play, Dad figured out the snow was perfect to build a you-know-what. 

It turns out that once your kids get to a certain age, all the training you got as a boy on how to be a kid becomes very useful. Whether it's a leaf pile or a snow man, you finally have the know how, imagination, and the muscle to pull it off.

The kids seemed more interested in eating the snow than helping me!  That was ok, though.  I would have gone out without them to build a snow man.
