Elliot's Laryngoscopy

Thursday, April 29 0 comments

We arrived at Children's Hospital at 11:30, checked in and were quickly back to our room.   Elliot did pretty well  for a while but after about the 3rd nurse came in to check his heart and ask us questions, we could tell he was holding in a lot of tears and looked pretty scared.  Once Nicole told him he could cry he let it all out and was pretty upset for a while.  He was too upset to realize how much of a treat it was to sit and watch the Disney Channel (Emma would have been jealous!)

We were happy to have a visit by our friend Mary and then later our friend Tim who both work at Children's.

Eventually it was time to take his calm-down medicine which we thought he may not take.  He got worked up and put his hand over his mouth but eventually took it.  That slowly calmed him down and brought him back to his normal self with a touch of drowsiness and a few giggles.

Finally at about 2:10 they wheeled him out.  It wasn't long until the doctor came and explained that everything was normal.  Soon after that, Elliot was rolling back in.  He enjoyed a few popsicles in the room  while we waited to be discharged.  Once out, Elliot was a bit loopy and was making us all laugh with his slurred speech and giggling.  We headed to Friendy's since Elliot was starving.

All in all, it went well.

Emma's 6th birthday party

Thursday, February 4 1 comments

Last weekend we had 12 girls in our home to celebrate Emma's 6th birthday.  It was her first friend-only party and we had a really good time.  Activities included pin the tail on Pupcake (Strawberry Shortcake's dog), strawberry on the spoon relay race, musical strawberries and of course a pinata.  Games were followed by presents, cake and ice cream cups.

Here are some pictures from that day.

Emma, Elliot and Elijah caught in a good picture mood.  They actually sat for a few moments to get their photo snapped.

Strawberry Shortcake was the chosen theme.

A couple pictures of smiling Elijah.  He is a very happy baby and often smiles and coos.

We would have never believed we'd fit all those kids around the table!

One of Emma's favorite gifts - 3 goldfish!  She's changed their names once already.

Tonight Emma received her girl scout vest which officially makes her a Daisy.  We were very proud of her!  She was extremely proud and excited as well.  It was fun (as it usually is) to see her interact with her little girlfriends.  We were also pleased to see her raising her hand to answer all the questions her leader asked.  All the families carried in food for dinner after the informal ceremony.

As Emma accomplishes her goals, she will get petals to put on her vest to eventually form a daisy.  She already has a few.
